Purinergic Component of the Neural Responses in the Guinea Pig Saphenous Artery

چکیده

Contraction of the guinea pig saphenous artery induced by stimulation of perivascular nerves consists of an adrenergic and a purinergic component. Neuropeptide Y (NPY) potentiated the neural responses significantly at low stimulation frequencies but not at high frequencies when the contraction was maximal. After blocking the adrenoceptors with phentolamine, significant potentiation of the purinergic component by NPY could be demonstrated. The potentiating effect ofNPY was abolished in the presence of nifedipine. After desensitizing the purinoceptors with a,38-methylene-ATP, there was no potentiation of the remaining adrenergic component by NPY. NPY also has no effect on contractions induced by exogenous norepinephrine but potentiates those induced by a,4-methylene-ATP. These results suggest that NPY potentiates neurally induced contraction in the guinea pig saphenous artery by a specific action on the purinergic response. (Circulation Research 1991;68:1401-1407)

Presence of prejunctional D2-dopaminoceptors and α2-adrenoceptors on the cholinergic nerve of the common bile duct of guinea pig

On most adrenergic and cholinergic nerve terminals, prejunctional α-adrenoceptors belonging to the α2-subtype have been identified. Activation of these receptors will decrease the release of norepinephrine. It has been reported that several isolated tissue preparations contain prejunctional dopamine receptors, the stimulation of which inhibits neurotransmission. It has remained uncertain whethe...

Silver nanoparticle induced muscle abnormalities : A sub-chronic dermal assessment in guinea pig

Nanosilver has recently been recognized as an antimicrobial agent. Although this nanoparticlecan be used in medical applications but its dermal and systemic toxicity via dermal exposure hasnot been completely determined yet. The aim in this study was to investigate the potential dermaltoxicity of Nanosilver in subchronic method. Before the colloidal silver nanoparticle toxicityevaluation, their...

Inhibition of the excitatory junction potential in the guinea-pig saphenous artery by ANAPP3.

Electrical stimulation of the perivascular nerves of the guinea-pig saphenous artery elicited excitatory junction potentials (e.j.ps) in the smooth muscle cells. These e.j.ps were inhibited by arylazido aminopropionyl adenosine triphosphate (ANAPP3), a specific antagonist for the P2-purinoceptor, suggesting that ATP may be the neurotransmitter.
